Use and abuse of intravenous immunoglobulin

Used for more than 20 years to treat primary immunodeficiency disorders, intravenous immunoglobulin is now used also as therapy for many other disease states, including autoimmune disorders. However, IV immunoglobulin should not be used for diseases without a valid scientific basis.
