Abstract

In our patient, the 'four-lines' sign was the only ultrasonographic abnormality to indicate ascariasis as the cause of acute pancreatitis, and prompted ERCP with successful endoscopic removal of the worm. Awareness of this sign is important when scanning cases of pancreatitis, particularly in areas where ascariasis is common and when no biliary tract abnormality is present.
