Abstract
Acrylamidolactamine monomer were prepared in two steps using a modified procedure in a total 77% yield. The resulting monomer LAM were copolymerized with NIPAAm in presence of BisA as the crosslinking reagent using KPS/TMEDA as initiating system at 25°C. The polymer gels from various comonomer feed ratios were homogeneous and transparent. Swelling ratio measurement proved that the gels with less than 20 mol% LAM in feed showed temperature-responding behavior. DSC studies correlated well with the equilibrium SR studies.
