N2 - We have developed techniques and are commencing experiments using enriched 41Ca as a tracer in isolated rabbit heart preparations. The aims of the study are to measure calcium uptake and deposition in response to cardiac ischemia and reperfusion, and to investigate events and mechanisms leading to irreversible myocyte injury.
