Abstract
The toxicity and physical properties of the chitosan film crosslinked with ethylene glycol diglycidyl ether (EDGE) were discussed. The cross-linked films were found to be more amorphous than plain chitosan films. The swelling ratio of cross-linked chitosan film decreased with the increasing concentration of EDGE and was considerably lower than that of plain chitosan films. Analysis shows that chitosan film cross-linked with EDGE could increase its maximum tensile strength and decrease its degradation rate.
