Abstract

Wound complications after median sternotomy are amenable to a detailed analysis by computed tomography after filling of sinus tracts with contrast agent. CT fistulography facilitates therapy planning. Since the extent of sternal sinus tracts determines the extent of surgical intervention, CT fistulography is recommended as a standard diagnostic method in patients with postoperative sternal wound complications.
