Relationship between the effects of total glucosides of paeony on expression of β-arrestins and inhibition on synoviocyte proliferation from CIA rats

Abstract

Aim: To elucidate the correlation between effects of total glucosides of paeony (TGP) on expression of β-arrestins and inhibition on synoviocyte proliferation from CIA rats. Methods: CIA model in rats was induced by injection of chicken type II collagen (CCII) emulsion. TGP (25, 50, 100 mg·kg -1·d-1) was adminisered intragastricly to CIA rats during d 14 ∼ 28. Synoviocyte proliferation was determined by MTT assay. The expression of β-arrestins in synoviocytes from CIA rats was measured by Western blot. Results: TGP (25, 50, 100 mg·kg-1, ig, d 14 ∼ 28) could inhibit synoviocyte proliferation and reduce the expression of β-arrestin 2 greatly in synovial tissue of CIA rats. The effects of TGP on the expression of β-arrestin 2 had a positive correlation with the inhibition of TGP on synoviocyte proliferation. Conclusion: TGP can inhibit synoviocyte proliferation of CIA rats, which may be related to downregulating the expression of β-arrestin 2.
