Abstract

A rapid method is developed to separate and identify the oligosaccharides from individual egg jelly layers of Xenopus laevis. The identification was based on the retention times in HPLC, porous graphitized carbon (PGC) column in conjunction with MALDI-CID-FTMS. The PGC cartridge was used to desalt and fractionate the oligosaccharides into neutral and sulfated components. The method was found to be rapid, efficient and resulted in complete separation of anionic and neutral components.
