"Pull-through" wiring technique in tibial plateau fractures

Abstract

Reconstruction of comminuted intraarticular segments and subsequent stabilization of these segments in tibial plateau fractures are ongoing surgical challenges. Provisional wire stabilization of small intra-articular fragments typically is necessary but can complicate placement of definitive hardware in periarticular fracture fixation. We present a technique used in two patients to aid in reduction and maintenance of periarticular fragments while still providing unimpeded access for definitive fixation implants.
