Abstract

A new high-pressure liquid chromatographic method for the clinical assay of 5-fluorouracil and 5-fluorodeoxyuridine has been developed. The sensitivity and specificity of the method equals that of gas chromatography/mass spectrometric methods. The practical value of the method has been demonstrated by its application in several preliminary clinical studies of 5-fluorouracil in which plasma levels of 10-8-10-6M were readily monitored.
