Abstract
The causes, pathophysiology, and treatment of the persistent pulmonary hypertension of the newborn are distinct from pulmonary hypertension in older children and adults. Despite of abundance of experimental data to date no single therapeutic approach has been shown to be universally effective. The future therapy concepts shall be likely based on the knowledge and understanding of the highly specific molecular cascades and signaling pathways.
