Observation of Ne+ to Ne8+ K x rays following O5,6,7,8+ bombardment

Abstract

The Ne K x-ray spectrum following bombardment by 30-MeV O5+ and 35-MeV O6+, O7+, and O8+ beams has been resolved into nine lines corresponding to KL0 through KL7 transitions. Using a curved-crystal spectrometer, relative intensities for the previously unresolved KL0, KL1 and KL2 transitions have been extracted despite the overlap of the H-like oxygen-beam x rays. For O5+ and O7+ bombardment, the measured relative intensities of the remaining lines disagree with a previous measurement.
