N2 - The temperature dependence of the magnetization in two new compounds is presented and compared with Ca14MnBi11. One of the new compounds, Sr14MnBi11, orders ferromagnetically and the other, Ba14MnBi11, is an antiferromagnet at low T. The Curie-Weiss constants C and Θ, found above the ordering temperatures, imply that Mn has four unpaired electrons in each compound and that the near neighbor magnetic coupling in each compound is ferromagnetic, even for antiferromagnetic Ba14MnBi11. For each of these compounds the low temperature high field moment is consistent with the Mn having about 2.5 unpaired electrons.
