Abstract
Marfan syndrome is a genetically determined connective tissue disease, which is characterised by a tall habitus, scoliosis of the thoracic and lumbar spine and deformity of the thoracic cage, pectus carinatum. Another common, but less commonly enlisted abnormality is dural ectasia, which causes sacral bone defects and may also cause lumbar complaints.
