Abstract
Female baboons maintained on a timed pregnancy program were administered intramuscular, Intravenous, and oral doses of β‐aminopropionitrile (BAPN) and aminoacetonitrile (AAN) during the time of palatogenesis in this species. Resorptions, abortions, and fetuses with skeletal defects resulted. Cleft palate occurred in one set of twins following oral doses of 75 mg/kg/day AAN on days 43‐48 of pregnancy.
