Abstract
The separation of oligosaccharides using a combination of MALDI-mass spectrometry (MS) and capillary electrophoresis (CE) was discussed. The oligosaccharides were derivatized with benzylamine by reductive amination in the presence of NaCNBH 3. The benzylamine derivatized oligosaccharides were analyzed by CE/UV and off-line CE/MALDI-MS. The benzylamine labeled oligosaccharides were effectively detected at 230 and 248 nm. It was observed that the quaternization of benzylamine labled products enabled not only CE migration of neutral oligosaccharides but also separation of structural isomers of oligosaccharides.
