Abstract
The solution of large scale data visualization problem and the need for efficient data management mechanism supporting diverse data representations are addressed. Novel designs are required in the areas of scalable databases, hierarchical storage systems and parallel input/output. Representation of data at different resolution levels is needed to bring the data quickly in the computer's memory. For using the parallel supercomputers and to eliminate bottlenecks created by a serial process, the parallel visualization system needs to be scalable. The need for high resolution displays and design of user interfaces to support reuse to reduce the cost of visualization is also emphasized.
