Abstract
In frameshift suppressor strains, altered transfer RNA species have been identified by their altered chromatographic properties on benzoylated DEAE-cellulose columns. Suppressor mutations in the sufA and sufB genes affect the structure of two proline-specific tRNA's, and the sufD mutation affects the structure of a glycine tRNA. Strains carrying sufF may be defective in the enzymic modification of a second species of glycine tRNA.
