Abstract

This chapter reviews the evidence behind the diagnosis, treatment and adjuvant therapies in the management of flexor tendon injuries and improving flexor tendon repairs to prevent adhesions and re-rupture as common complications. We review the indications for repair of partial tendon ruptures as well as specific suture materials and configurations used for repair and chemical adjuncts used to prevent tendon rupture and adhesion formation. The use of MRI and ultrasound in diagnosing tendon injuries and complications after surgery are also evaluated.
