Abstract

In an effort to find an animal model of Lyme arthritis, we initially examined the susceptibility of LEW/N rats to B. burgdorferi infection because of their predisposition to bacterial cell wall-induced arthritis. We report here that live B. burgdorferi induced arthritis in two inbred rat strains and one outbred rat stock.
