Abstract
The preliminary data on 12 cases seem to confirm that 99Tc(m) diphosphonate like 18F is an indicator of blood flow to bone. It appears to be a simple, inexpensive reliable method for assessing blood flow to the femoral head. With the accumulation of more data and experience, preoperative scintigraphy of the femoral head may become a valuable tool in deciding the appropriate form of treatment in patients having fractures of the femoral neck.
