Effect of perforation on casing strength

In consideration of serious damage at casing perforating interval, the effect of perforating on casing strength is studied by using a finite-element analytical software, in terms of establishing a entity-model as well as plane problems. The relationships among perforation diameter, density, phase and casing strength are clarified. It is pointed out that in order to meet the needs of production, heavy weight casing should be used and about 30% of its yield strength should be raised in the perforating interval.
