Development of a whole slide image archive

Abstract

The central task was the development of an image archive with annotated images of mouse tumors in each organ system with examples of comparable human tumors. As previously mentioned, this image collection is primarily based on the slide sets developed by the MMHCC Organ Site committees. These slide sets now include 857 slides in 8 organ systems. By agreement, the MMHCC Image Archives is primarily based on the Whole Slide Image technology discussed below. Each image is accompanied by annotations and linked to a database with a terminology server describing the slide.
