Over the years, color flow mappings has become an integral part of clinical ultrasound imaging. Recent developments include high frequency color flow imaging, 3-D color flow acquisition and display systems, algorithms for lateral flow estimation and the incorporation of contrast agents to increase echoes from the vascular space.
