Abstract
The host-associated carbohydrate-mediated entry processes of HIV-1 are reviewed. Topics covered include the current HIV/AIDS treatments and limitations, HIV-1 surface protein Gp 120 and its role in the viral entry of CD4-positive T-cells vial fusion, polyanionics polysaccharides as anti-HIV agents in CD4-positive cells, and HIV surface protein gp120 and its role in the viral entry of CD4-negative cells.
