Abstract
The advent of effective antiretroviral therapy has changed the pattern of CMV disease in countries where such treatment is available. The new treatments increase general immune responses, improve outcome and have resulted in dramatic decreases in documented CMV infections. There are several possibilities to explain the influence of triple-combination therapy on CMV disease.
