Abstract
A case of female urethral leiomyoma is presented. Leiomyoma of the female urethra is a rare condition with approximately 40 cases reported in the English language literature to date. A 34-year-old woman presented with a gradually enlarging mass in the urethra protruding to vagina. Bimanual examination showed a palpable mass at the upper wall of the vagina, while cystourchtroscopy revealed a tumor in the middle portion of the urethral wall. Excisional biopsy was performed and a tumor mass measuring up to 1.5 cm was excised. Pathohistologic analysis showed a typical histologic pattern of leiomyoma. There was no cytologic atypia or mitotic activity. Immunohistochemical analysis revealed positive reaction to smooth muscle cell actin, while S-100 protein was negative. Thirteen months after the surgery, the patient was well and without recurrence.
