Abstract

Technical advances in the removal of common bile duct stones continue to be made and attention to the removal of large duct stones emphasized. Therapeutic endoscopy has made a significant impact on the treatment of patients with biliary strictures. Stenting is useful palliative therapy for patients with malignant jaundice, especially those who are elderly and at high risk, and is helpful in promoting the healing of biliary fistulae.
