Abstract
UGA suppressor mutations have been characterized which map between the ser and lys loci in the chromosome of Salmonella typhimurium. All the suppressors mapping here are recessive; i.e. suppressor activity is not present in strains which carry both a suppressor mutation and a wild-type copy of the same gene. Complementation tests indicate that these suppressor mutations all affect a single gene.
