N2 - Over the past year there have been several new developments in our understanding of autoimmunity, as well represented by several lines of evidence obtained from basic, translational, and clinical research alike. To summarize novel findings reported in 2008 this article will review selected publications from the most prominent scientific journals and ultimately suggest some links in the field of autoimmune diseases from leading journals dedicated to autoimmunity. The take-home message from these readings is that autoimmunity ultimately becomes a uniform scenario in which similarities between conditions significantly outnumber differences in terms of pathogenesis and mechanisms.
