Abstract

The synthesis of 1,2-bis(2-indenyl)ethane via a bis cycloalkylation-bis elimination sequence on 1,4-bis(phenylsulfonyl) butane is presented. The dilithio salt derived from the bis(indene) was treated with TiCl3·3THF to afford (ethylenebis(2-indenyl))titanium dichloride, the parent complex for ethylene-bridged bis(2-indenyl) systems.
